The careful consideration of the customer journey led to a quick, pain-free purchase path, resulting in significant growth for Castore, with the website and brand assets central to this success.

Creating a strong digital presence to compete with established industry giants

Project Objectives:

When Koded began working with Castore, the sportswear brand was just two years old and in need of a strong digital presence to compete with established industry giants. The primary objectives were:

  • Develop a distinctive and premium brand identity.
  • Design an intuitive and seamless e-commerce platform.
  • Create a cohesive visual style that highlights the quality and exclusivity of Castore’s products.

Scope and challenges:

  • Full brand development, including colours, fonts, image style, and logo refinement.
  • Comprehensive website design and development.
  • Creation of social media and email campaigns.
  • Integration with fulfilment centres for automated order processing.
  • Art direction for photography and dynamic lifestyle imagery.
  • Design of seasonal lookbooks and digital/print ads.

One of the main challenges was transforming Castore’s underdeveloped brand and existing website into a sophisticated and compelling digital presence. Additionally, managing the rapid growth of the brand required maintaining their current digital operations while developing the new platform.

“Koded have been with us from the start and they have been pivotal in developing our brand messaging to a fast growing customer base. Castore is a digitally native business and the website underpins everything we do. It is vital that the design reflects our premium ethos, and Koded have been able to capture that message with truly unique yet understated designs to provide a ‘castore’ touch on all aspects of the website experience.

Innovative strategies to tackle unique project requirements

  • Holistic Brand Development: Koded meticulously researched image styles, developed a monotone brand palette, and refined the logo. This set the tone for a premium brand identity that stands out in the sportswear market.
  • User-Centric Design: A full suite of design visuals for the UI/UX ensured a quick, pain-free purchase path for customers. Every element from the homepage to the checkout flow was carefully considered.
  • Dynamic Project Management: Utilising Teamwork and GANTT charts, Koded maintained clear communication and progress tracking, ensuring all stakeholders were aligned and milestones were met.

Distilling strong visions into a coherent brand path

Managing the existing digital platform while developing the new look and feel was a significant challenge, especially with various unseen stakeholders and investors to satisfy. However, through continuous improvement and strategic planning, Koded successfully navigated these obstacles and set Castore on its own unique journey in a highly competitive marketplace.

Success Metrics and Outcomes

  • Rapid Growth: The new branding and website significantly contributed to Castore’s immense growth. Social media channels saw a substantial increase in engagement, and email campaigns achieved excellent open and conversion rates.
  • Increased Traffic and Conversions: The enhanced digital presence resulted in high traffic flow and strong conversion rates on the website.
  • Sustained Impact: The brand’s premium feel and effective digital strategies have helped Castore grow into a nearly £1bn company.
